There's a nuance to opening the DB beforehand.

When you have the DB opened, the *Notes Client* doesn't have anywhere further to look, and connects with the proper DB.

This is a subtle subject, but the Notes client actually picks the server & DB from its desktop, preferring the stack on the desktop before it actually dives down into the server information that is in the notes:// link.

So it may be there's an issue with the user's desktop.

If you had an issue with the replica IDs changing (for a given DBPath), and the Notes client had earlier opened a database with the *earlier* replica ID, I could understand why the Notes client would've opened the wrong DB. It had the wrong path for that replica ID.
